River Cottage, La Bordeliere.

Restaurants

Montmorillon our nearest large town has a thriving tourist industry and as such has some remarkably excellent restaurants! These range from Indian to Chinese to typically French.... which are our favourites!

Lucullus... don't let the exterior fool you. A quiet table for two. Fraise suprise with a signature.

Currently our favourite is the local Hotel de France with their restaurant and Bistro named Le Lucullus. Two options here, the bistro has fixed price two or three course menus Monday to Friday. The restaurant has the full a la carte or fixed price menus which come with all the extras at no extra cost you might expect for a top class meal... sorbets, petit fours etc, etc.... very impressive and worth the little extra, perhaps for a really special occasion!

Le Roman des Saveurs is another typically French restaurant, with a good range of fixed price menus and a la carte. We recently enjoyed a typical Dordogne meal with various pieces of duck and foie gras... really good!

For something a little cheaper why not try the Creperie du Brouard, cheerful service outside under the planetrees overlooking the river Gartempe, where better to enjoy the hot French afternoons after a mornings touring.
